On the morning of his birthday, Kalana Meewella didn’t celebrate with birthday cake but a bold career move.

Walking into the Woodards Camberwell office, he asked for what he calls “the best gift I could get”, a job.

“I went in and said, ‘I want to work here’,” he recalls.

Weeks later, that bold move has paid off, with Meewella joining the team as a sales associate after completing his real estate qualifications in December.

While new to property, his background is grounded in high-performance sales.

Meewella worked with global brands including Tesla and ANZ, building a reputation for strong client engagement, lead generation and closing skills. At Tesla, he consistently ranked among the top performers, excelling at converting enquiry into results.

He also holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Management, reflecting his interest in the future of property and development.

But it was Woodards - and specifically Camberwell - that called him to a career in real estate.

“I didn’t interview anywhere else,” he says.

“For me, it was about the brand, the people and the location.”

Having grown up in Melbourne’s east, Meewella was deliberate about where he wanted to build his career, drawn to the strength of the network and the opportunity to work in a premium market.

“I wanted somewhere I could learn, grow and be part of a strong culture,” he says.

Now just weeks into the role, he is already building momentum.

And if his first move into real estate is anything to go by, Meewella knows exactly where he wants to be, and isn’t afraid to go after it.
